The Diesel2p is the world’s first dual scan engine, large field-of-view multiphoton imaging system. Imaging and optogenetic stimulation anywhere, all at once.

The mesoscope by neuroscientists, for neuroscientists

We designed and built this system to get data. The ergonomics ensure that you don’t have to fuss with the scope. The imaging part is easy, so you can focus on the neuroscience experiments. Don’t worry about maintaining the water interface under the objective, this system uses air. It also has a generous 8 mm working distance. Easy.

Powerful and flexible
No other mesoscope system in the world provides two completely independent scan engines into the same objective. The experimental possibilities for multiple colors and combined imaging and optogenetics are endless.

Field-of-view: Up to 7 mm across and totally flat. 5 x 5 mm in typical usage. The field-of-view is flat edge-to-edge (no curvature).

Resolution: < 1 μm in XY, 6 – 8 μm in Z

Working distance: 8 mm in air

Dual independent scan arms: Each can be used for imaging, optogenetics, or both.

Tilting objective: Objective rotates 360 degrees to accommodate a wide variety of experiments.

Wide and fast resonant scanning: The fast axis scans 1.5 mm wide stripes (over twice as wide as some other systems). Thus the linear scan rate is up to 24 mm scanned per ms, the fastest commercially available large field-of-view 2p scanning.

Optical design: The system uses an industry standard infinity corrected design. This facilitates customization. Plus, the full optical prescription is open source and published.

Software: Runs with ScanImage

Full system customization: Available from Cosys and INSS, including integration of your experimental needs, including behavior, electrophysiology, and anything else you want.

Already in use at leading labs worldwide: US, Canada, UK, Japan, etc.
